Sometimes we lose our way and it takes everything falling apart to realize that you've wandered off the path. In Feb 2006 I was laid off from my well-paying job as QA Analyst for an e-commerce company. After a month of dismal job hunting, I discovered that my partner (of 12 years) and I had strayed from our original goals of simple living and leaving a small ecological footprint. We were both making good money and got too caught up in consumerism. So we'd embarked on a new adventure. In April we dumped the large house in the suburbs to move to a very small duplex in the city. We cut our costs, made a budget and set goals to cook at home more, entertain at home more and get back on track living a simple, spiritual life. It wasn't going to be easy. Nothing of value ever is. In October, we ended our relationship and I moved into a gay, pagan intentional community/household.
I'm redefining work and play. With a couple of close friends that share my spiritual ideas and my goals, I started a web development and publishing company and I'm writing and doing art again. I'm starting study groups to share great books and ideas about the nature of reality with others. I'm helping start a non-profit that works to promote queer alternative spirituality and I'm facilitating and teaching at more and more events. I'm opening discussions with my core group of friends about communes, about community about new ways to live that heal the earth and ourselves. And I'm enjoying life more.
I'm a thinker. I always have been. I'm a sagittarian and it's our nature to explore, to wander, to question the purpose of life and why we're here. I've done a lot of exploring and wandering too. I studied Fine Art in college, managed a retail store, taught art in an Elementary School and worked in IT for 10 years. I've studied the occult with the OTO, OAI, Minoan Brotherhood and recently, founded the OAV. I co-facilitate Between the Worlds: An Alternative Spiritual Gathering for Gay and Bi Men and I co-coordinate Rainbow Center (the GLBT programming area) at Pagan Spirit Gathering. I'm working on a book on gay sex magick and several articles about queer spirituality. I've been in monogamous relationships and I've done "poly". I've experimented with tantra and bdsm. I've lived in two communes, been part of an intentional community and worked with a number of non-profits. As I said, I'm an explorer.
